THE DOWNHILL BIKE RIDE
Definitely not! Many of our guests haven’t ridden a bike for decades.
Furthermore, you cycle as much or as little as suits you. You can get back into the support minibus any time you want.
Again, definitely not! Our oldest rider to date was 90 …. with his 68 year old son!
Yes, of course. Normally a minimum of about 8 years old, providing they are at least 120 cm or 4′-0″ tall. We can cater for younger children as well if their parents confirm that they are able to ride safely on public roads. Please, contact us in this case so that we are able to organize a bicycle for your child beforehand.
Furthermore, younger children can accompany their parents in our bicycle trailer which will be pulled by one of the parents. The trailer can carry two children with a maximum weight of 40 kilos or 6 stones.
Clients on the ride should wear closed shoes. We allow us to ask clients to go back to their rooms to change their footwear if it’s not appropriate for the ride, i.e. flip-flops.
From October to April it can be a bit chilly up in the Sierra Aitana. We are able to provide jumpers, gloves, scarfs and beanies on the ride. However, we highly recommend to wear closed shoes, long trousers, a jacket, fleece or jumper
“The Downhill Bike Ride” tours , operate rain or shine , or even in cloudy conditions, unless it is a bad storm with high speed winds or heavy downpours, that can offer risks to our groups and staff.
If a decision needs to be made, in terms of changing the itinerary due to unforeseen circumstances, like forest fires, floods, breakdowns, heavy rain, thunder storms or anything else that cannot be foreseen at this time, it will all be left to the discretion of the tour guide in charge.
We stop frequently to ensure everyone is comfortable and to explain places of interest on the next section of the ride. So you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take photographs.
We stop for lunch as well. bring your own packed lunch or enjoy a delicious soup/stew at the Cannibals Restaurant.
We carry fresh spring-water available at any time during the bike ride.

The price includes the bike ride, transport, bicycle, safety helmet, water and pick-up from Benidorm, La Cala, Albir, Alfaz del Pi, La Nucia, Villajoiosa, Orxeta, Finestrat and Altea.
The price does not include lunch. You could either bring a packed lunch or have lunch at the Safari Aitana Park. There the lunch is between 6-12 €.

No, you don’t need to wear a mask while cycling.
During the excursion it’s highly recommended that you stay within your group and/or at least 2 meters apart from other participants of the excursion.
However, masks are obligatory on all transports, in all facilities (i.e. restaurants, bars, toilets etc.) and in all outside areas of the Safari Aitana park where we start the bike ride.
GUIDED WALKS
Good walking shoes/boots, a light jacket and waterproofs. We only accept trainers on easy walks.
Snacks for easy walks. We provide packed lunches on all other walks.
Bottled water is provided on all walks.
We do walk in the rain, snow, wind and any other weather conditions that nature decides to throw at us. After all, we’re going on adventures! If the weather is unsafe for any reason, the trip will be changed or postponed. You will be notified prior to your trip if there are changes due to weather.
We do not call it a race and we are very sympathetic to all levels of walkers.
Our guide to client ratio is 1 : 8.
We stop frequently to make sure that slower walkers are able to catch up or split the group when we’ve got more than two guides to allow all levels to have a great experience on a specific walk.

We walk as well with just one person. If you’d like to come on one of our walks alone, please, contact us to discuss your options. We normally ask for a “single walker’s supplement” of 10 € if no further client has booked on the scheduled walk.
We offer discounts for walking groups. Please, contact us if you are more than 4 people in a group to discuss your walking plans with us.
PREPARATION
Yes, you can.
As long as you can ride a bicycle with any existing health condition or disability you can participate in THE DOWNHILL BIKE RIDE. Please, let us know beforehand of any existing condition. Then we are able to amend the bike ride and / or bicycle to your needs.
Furthermore, you can cycle as much as you like. Our support vehicles are always with the group. We will brief you before every section and you can decide if you’d like to cycle the whole section or jump into the minibus for a couple of minutes.
“GUIDED WALKS” are offered for all levels. You can chose a walk based on your experience level.
If you’d like to have a nice and easy day out we recommend the walk around the “GUADALEST RESERVOIR”. This can be adapted to your needs and the first half can even be done in a wheelchair. We would then pick you up in the village called “Beniarda”.

”THE DOWNHILL BIKE RIDE” runs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, all year round. At peak holiday times we normally go out every days except on Sundays.
Our “GUIDED WALKS” operate from October to May normally on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.
Please, contact us, if you are coming as a group > 4 people and would like to join us on a day which doesn’t show availability on our booking page.

For more than 4 people we are as well able to operate “The Downhill Bike Ride” on a requested date by your group.

If customers are staying within the covered areas, the pick up is guaranteed when the tour includes it.
List of covered areas: Benidorm, La Cala, Albir, Alfaz del Pi, La Nucia, Villajoiosa, Orxeta, Finestrat and Altea.
In case customers are staying outside of the covered area, they could either arrange their own transport and meet us within the covered area – bus / tram station or designated meeting points -, or could book the transport with us. Different surcharges apply for pick-ups from Calpe and the Alicante Area.
If you are staying in the Alicante Area and would like to come on a guided walk, the transport is included for the following walks – Cabeço d’Or, Migjorn and Menejador.
If you are staying in the Calpe and would like to come on a guided walk, the transport is included for the following walks – Sierra de Bernia, Olta, Fontilles, Coll de Rates and Montgo.
RESERVATION & PAYMENT
Yes. Reservations are required for guaranteed spots on all tours. Reservations help us determine the number of guides we need to ensure that our groups remain manageable and enjoyable, and they allow us to notify you of changes to the tour due to weather or anything that could disturb the tours.
No, we do not charge any extra fees or fuel surcharges. The listed price is the price you pay. Including tax.
Bring some cash or your credit- / debit-card to pay for drinks after the excursion or for lunch if it is not included in the tour.
Notice of cancellation for day tours – Valid for Groups or Individual Customers
- More than 24 hours prior to tour date: full refund
- Less than 24 hours prior to tour date: 75 % refund
- No shows and cancellation on the day: No refund
Different refund policies and notice periods may apply for pre-booked holiday packages.
Refunds are paid within 15 days after the request is made.
